Hosting a CMEG meedting

So, you want to host a meeting? Or do you just have a suggestion for a topic? Good for you!

Contact any member of the Steering Committee. The committee meets annually to decide on meetings for the coming year with a balance of hosts, speakers, and topics that will benefit the professional development of our members, be geographically accessible to our diverse crowd, and be generally appealing. A group from the committee then organizes the meetings in partnership with each hosting institution.

Each meeting needs:

~ A topic and a target host (which could be you!)

~ Speakers. Most of our hosts usually have something they wish to present, and we encourage this. But we also flesh out programs with other professionals who have relevant information or experiences to share.

~ A date. Although we can't promise an immediate date, we'll work with you to find a date that works both for your institution and the CMEG schedule.

~ A space. Meetings usually attract 30 to 50 members.

~ Equipment. Any special equipment (projectors, etc. depending on the nature of the topic and presentations).

~ Food. Most hosts provide an array of munchies, soft drinks, and coffee. Members pay a small contribution at the door to defray this expense.

~ An invitation. A steering committee member will help you put together an Evite invitation, which is sent to our members and posted on this website.

~ Logistical help at the event as needed (signs or volunteers to direct people, a table for registration volunteers, etc.)

Podium from which Obama spoke

This meeting host provided us with a chance to be photographed at the actual podium from which Obama spoke on election night!
